A Little Bit Tired

Ever so often I get tired.
Who takes on more than a Black Woman? Hell, even some uninformed black women give Black Women grief sometimes.
The Black Woman loves so hard. Protects her own with ferocity. Gives her last. Uplifts. Never stops giving.
Ever so often I get a little tired of being watched like a hawk.

What do you want? What can I help you with?
Oh, you want to know who I am? That’s funny, because I couldn’t care less about who you are. I’m here to do a job, so that I can get back to my life.
Oh, you don’t like me?
Good, I don’t care much for you either.
But since my Sistas built this country, raised your children and were raped by your great great granddaddies, I don’t owe you shit. So, don’t question my confidence as I walk by.
Don’t wonder why I smile at your ignorance.
Or why your constant microaggressions roll off my back.
You are your parents’ child.
And it doesn’t matter what your mouth says. You are you. You are them.
You want to pick and choose which black women are worthy?
Your disdain for a strong Black Woman diminishes any “help” and pity you offer to others.
Your sense of entitlement seeps out when you’re not expecting it to.
And I see it.
So yup, ever so often I get a little tired.
